The Fields Beneath is a cafe in North London, and has been 100% vegan since March. Since then, profits have increased by 10%, and they’re now looking at opening a second location.
You may remember their sign making the round on Facebook earlier this year, telling customers that they would no longer be using cows milk, as well as why.
The Fields Beneath went 100% vegan on Mothers Day earlier in the year, after a 6 month transition period. They wanted to ensure that their regular customers would not be put off by a vegan menu, and it seems as if the hard work is paying off.
Before the switch, almost everything at the cafe contained animal products. Full fat milk and cheese and ham croissants were customers favourites, and the London cafe has worked tirelessly to make sure they found good substitutes.
They now offer freshly baked vegan croissants, and sales have increased by 10% compared to this time last year.
The switch was such a success, they’re now looking at opening a second location, with their very own kitchen.
The London cafe is raising money on Kickstarter, and needs £30,000 to make this happen.
They’re also offering some pretty great rewards for donating, so it’s a win win!
