Hampton Creek has debuted their latest product, Just Scramble, which mimics the texture, taste and cooking time of egg.
Just Scramble was unveiled at a breakfast launch event at San Francisco eatery Flore, where it will now be sold until it expands nationwide.
Hampton Creek has been recognised for their groundbreaking research into food technology, aiming to bring the first lab-created meat to market.
Just Scramble was created through by isolating a plant protein within mung beans, which, once developed and cooked, creates a food almost identical to regular scrambled eggs.
Hampton Creek’s new product is not only vegan but also free of antibiotics and cholesterol, making it a far healthier option to scrambled egg.
Hampton Creek CEO, Josh Tetrick, explained that the business now aims to disrupt the egg industry and offer a product that’s not only more ethical but more healthy too.
You may remember that last year, emails exposed egg industry leaders discussing assassinating Josh Tetrick (I’m not joking!) as he posed too much of a threat to the egg industry.
“We were lucky enough to find something that has impacted our food system for thousands of years and turn it into a meal that will impact it for thousands more,” Tetrick said.
“Launching Just Scramble is the culmination of years of hard work by our talented team.”
While there’s no current news on when Just Scramble will hit UK shores, we can be sure it’s going to be a big success in the States!
