Fashion brand Hugo Boss has launched a vegan shoe line made from a plant-based leather called Piñatex. The shoes are available now and retail for £220.
The shoes have been released in four different colours: blue, black, brown and yellow and are made from a 100% vegan leather called Piñatex which is produced using pineapple.
“The limited-edition styles are crafted from Piñatex®, an innovative leather-alternative created from pineapple leaf fibres. The result: footwear that makes a minimal imprint on the planet and offers a sleek BOSS look.
“Each and every part of the sneakers has been designed with innovation and sustainability in mind.
“The vegan shoes are available in a range of naturally-dyed colours, feature lightweight recycled TPU soles and fasten with organic cotton laces.”
A number of fashion brands have been embracing the popularity of veganism, with the likes of Armani, Versace, Michael Kors and DKNY all removing fur from their future product lines.
Similarly, the city of San Franciso voted to ban the sale of fur throughout the city amidst an industry-wide shift in the fashion market.
