Global furniture chain IKEA will launch vegan ice cream in its in-store cafes next summer.

In a post on Instagram, the Swedish brand announced the news by saying: “100% plant-based, 100% delicious.

Today we are sharing our ambitions to introduce plant-based ice cream to the IKEA Bistro. The development has started and we aim to bring this alternative to dairy-based soft ice to IKEA Bistros in Summer 2019.”

Earlier this year the brand also trialed a plant-based hot dog which received an approval rating of 95%. The furniture company will now release the plant-based hot dogs in their in-store cafes across all of their stores in Autumn 2018.

Other brands have been making similar changes with restaurants such as Pizza Hut, Dominos, Costco and McDonald’s all adding vegan options in the past year.
