There’s no denying it, 2016 has been the year of veganism. And that means the list of vegan friendly cities is only growing. In these places although the frustration of products needlessly containing animal products is still present, the vegan presence is getting bigger and bigger.

Everyone seems to know Israel is one of the best places to be vegan, but here are some less appreciated spots!

Chiang Mai

Having recently spent two weeks here myself, I will boldly say that this is the most vegan friendly spot I have ever visited in my entire life.

A mall down the road sold the largest platefuls of delicious vegan food for no more than £2, and this was only the start. We were walking distance from mouth-watering dumplings, and a short bike ride away from veggie BLT’s, brownies, and everything in-between.

If you let Thais know you’re vegan by saying “Jay” jay, they will be more than happy to cook your food vegan. Not to forget all the juicy fruit available for half the price anywhere in the UK.

London

London is my home town, and proud to be one of the best spots to be vegan. With a fully veggie Pret a Manger in Soho and vegan bakeries dotted around everywhere, you’ll always be able to find what you fancy.

If you’ve got a sweet tooth head to Cookies and Scream, home to the sweetest, gooiest vegan treats I’ve ever laid my eyes upon.

One look on happy cow, and you’ll see that there’s vegan Ethiopian, Italian, Middle Eastern, Chinese, the list is endless. Being in a melting pot of cultures means there are hundreds of types of veganism to try!

Berlin

Being named Vegetarian Capital Of The World is no mean feat, and cements Berlin’s place on this list. Don’t be scared off that this is a vegetarian title and not vegan, vegan restaurants have opened in almost every neighbourhood of the city, with most restaurants labelling their vegan dishes both on the menu and on the boards outside.

Vegan pizza, dumplings and cocktails are just a few examples of what you can enjoy on your trip here. I visited years ago and after seeing how they’re now one of the most vegan friendly cities I’m desperate to go back!

LA

Home to the rich, the famous, and the health conscious. With more vegan options than any other city, you’ll struggle to find something you don’t love.

From vegan festivals being held here to a raw-food scene arguably better than anywhere else in the world, LA is one of the most glamorous places to be vegan.

Barcelona

Barcelona is only recently becoming more vegan friendly, but you’ve got to celebrate improvements! Known for its affordable food, expect clothing stores, restaurants and bakeries, with more appearing by the day!

You don’t just have to pick at food from tapas, pick from falafels, artistic juice bars, vegan doughnuts and much more! It’s one of the most gorgeous cities in the world and it keeps getting better and better.
