Review: Vegan Party @ Cafe Van Gogh

We visited Cafe Van Gogh in the Summer, however have just been back for a 21st birthday party. This cosy cafe in Brixton went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic time.

Although London is one of the most vegan friendly places in the world, I found it particularly difficult to find somewhere that could sit 20 guests, four days before Christmas.

Luckily, as we had been to Cafe Van Gogh before, we remembered to check and see whether this little gem hidden away in Brixton could fit us in.

A few emails later, and it was sorted! They even threw in a birthday cake as we had visited before.

I’ve absolutely no experience in catering whatsoever, so I can only imagine the stress of cooking and organising twenty different 3 course meals to come out at the right time. However, apart from a few late mains, it all came together perfectly.

The guests whose food came a bit late were given free glasses of wine anyway, so I’m not even sure they realised their food was a few minutes late!

I was a little stressed about bringing a large group of predominantly non-vegans to a 100% vegan cafe. However, clean plates all around proved I had nothing to worry about.

The service was perfect, and we were regularly getting our glasses topped up with vegan wine, beer, and prosecco. I’m not necessarily a huge prosecco fan, but it was so sweet and delicious it was hard not to have a few (many) glasses.

The food was of course incredible, and the cake was a real life version of Bruce Bogtrotters from Matilda. 60 meals between us later, we left a very happy, very full, party of 20.

Although almost every single thing was perfect, I can only think of one suggestion. As we had to wait for friends and family who were running late, we could have perhaps done with some bread or nibbles on the table when we arrived. That’s me being extremely picky!

Delicious food, friendly service and a relaxing atmosphere meant I had the most wonderful 21st birthday meal. I can hand on heart say I will recommend Cafe Van Gogh to friends and family looking for events or birthday meals, as I enjoyed my time so greatly.

If you’re in the London area and thinking of having a birthday/anniversary/get together, I can truly recommend Cafe Van Gogh.

When you leave a meal feeling all fuzzy and warm inside, you know it’s special. Our friends vlogged part of our meal here, so check it out below!
