Plant-based business Beyond Meat has launched its Beyond Burger at Target stores across the USA.
The brand launched the Beyond Burger in 2016 and has since sold a total of 11 million burgers. It’s been picked up by large retail chains such as Whole Foods, Amazon Fresh and Safeway.
The burger has also been picked up by TGI Friday’s, and now available at over 465 TGI Friday’s restaurants, while it was also named the biggest scientific breakthrough of 2017.
Back in January, CEO Ethan Brown told Entrepreneur he sees a future where the Beyond Burger is offered in every McDonald’s and Burger King.
“I’m very confident that’s going to happen because I think the consumer is turning so quickly. We are not telling people not to eat meat — I think that would be a massive mistake — we’re simply suggesting that they have a new type of meat, just plant-based,” said Brown.
The burger is expected to be released in the UK later this year.
