Vegan meat company Beyond Meat has tripled its production rate in order to keep up with the growing demand for their products.
The California-based company revealed last week that they will open a second production facility in Columbia, MO.
This new facility will allow Beyond Meat to increase their production of products such as Beyond Burgers and Beyond Sausages by threefold.
The new factory will also create 250 new jobs, and allow the company to further innovate their products.
Beyond Meat Chief Operating Officer Mark Nelson said: “Our expanded 100,000 square-foot manufacturing footprint will provide the scale we need to service our rapidly growing retail, foodservice, and international customer base”.
The Beyond Burger was previously only available in America, however, it has been making its way across the globe.
It was recently revealed that it will be stocked in 350 Tesco stores across the UK, and will be available from August.
The Beyond Burger will retail at £5.50 for a two-pack.
Seth Goldman, the Beyond Meat executive chairman stated: “We see the growing global demand for delicious, plant-based proteins and are excited to serve that demand in the UK.”
When the burger was launched by Beyond Meat back in the US in 2016, it sold out almost immediately.
