Coca-Cola-owned brand Adez will re-launch as a dairy-free smoothie, offering three coconut, almond, and oat-based smoothie flavours to capitalize on the growth of plant-based demand.
The brand was previously a soya fruit juice owned by Unilever but will now be a plant-based smoothie offered at the front of stores.
Adez will now launch three different flavours in March of this year, Amazin Almond Mango-Passionfruit, Mighty Oat Strawberry-Banana, Courageous Coconut Berry. All will be packaged in 250ml bottles and come in below the threshold for the Uk’s sugar tax.
Marketing director Simon Harrison expects the re-launching of the brand to be profitable as the demand for plant-based products is still rapidly rising.
“There has been a lot of fantastic work done by other manufacturers in this area,” Harrison told media outlet The Grocer UK. “It is already such a bigger market than people would think. There are a lot of trends happening at the moment that we think this is a great fit for.”
Plant-based food and beverage sales have skyrocketed in recent years, with the plant-based milk market seeing a growth of 61%. Meanwhile, dairy milk consumption has decreased by 22% since the year 2000.
