Häagen-Dazs has quietly introduced four vegan ice-creams. They’ve been spotted across the USA in Target stores.
The new flavours are Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge, Coconut Caramel, Chocolate Salted Fudge Truffle, and Mocha Chocolate Cookie. Häagen-Dazs’ website has also added the flavours to their website.
Coconut Caramel is made primarily with coconut cream and sugar, Chocolate Salted Fudge Truffle is made with Belgian chocolate and contains soy, the Mocha Chocolate Cookie is made with a nut-free chocolate base and contains wheat and the Peanut Butter Chocolate Fudge is made from ingredients including corn syrup, sugar, and peanuts and is soy-, almond-, and cashew-free.
While these four flavours are confirmed it’s rumoured that a fifth flavour is also in production.
Even though none of the packaging mentions the term “vegan”, it has been confirmed that none contain animal products and are completely safe for vegans.
It’s not currently clear if Häagen-Dazs will be launching the new flavours in additional countries.
Häagen-Dazs are relatively late to the party.
Ben and Jerry’s have now had their vegan ice-cream available for over a year and have reportedly just started expanding to Australia, with more countries likely to follow.
While they may have taken longer to get to market, Häagen-Dazs will be thankful that they now have a range of products available.
The plant-based food industry is one of the fastest growing markets and demand has seen a huge surge as the popularity of veganism has increased.
