Actor and talk show host James Corden has told the Radio Times that he has given up meat, after hearing about the abuse of elephants.
He explained to the Times that he felt hypocritical supporting animal welfare for creatures such as elephants, while continuing to consume meat.
“I was upset about animal welfare while eating a bacon sandwich,”
“I thought, ‘Well, you really can’t be upset about elephants and not think about the pigs.’ I hope I can keep it up. I will certainly try.”
Although he is currently still eating fish, he did say within the interview that he is intending on removing it from his diet.
He described his path towards vegetarianism as a ‘gradual process’.
Earlier this week, James Corden was also spotted with long time vegan and animal rights activist Paul McCartney, reportedly for an episode of ‘Carpool Karaoke’.
A vegetarian since the 1970’s, McCartney is also the father of Stella McCartney, who has led the way in vegan and ethical fashion.
James Corden is now on a growing list of celebrities who have turned towards veganism or a more plant-based lifestyle.
Thandie Newton recently reported that she has gone vegan thanks to Solo co-star Woody Harrelson, and Will.I.Am has become a vocal vegan after transitioning earlier this year.
Corden lost 6 stone before moving to US television, and could be encouraged by the health benefits of cutting out meat from your diet.
