Spanish company, Isla Bonita have created a healthier option to the regular avocado. It contains 30% less fat and oxidizes slower. Enter the ‘diet’ avocado.
According to Ramón Rey, the avocado’s have a juicier pulp, mild flavour and oxidize at a slower rate.
The variety of avocado is also said to contain at least 30% less fat than a regular avocado.
“Avocado consumption has recorded an exponential growth in recent years because of its ‘superfood’ status,” Rey said, “so its caloric value does not, in global terms, constitute a barrier to consuming this fruit, since in return it offers other great benefits.”
For now, the avocado’s will be available year-round, exclusively in Spain.
