Waitrose & Partners has announced, in an official statement, that sales of their vegan and veggie products have increased by 85% compared to last year.
As a result of the growing demand for vegan and veggie options, Waitrose recently released a line of 25 meat-free products.
These include items such as Jackfruit Biryani, Vegan Mac & Greens and Mayonnaise Style Sauce.
Chloe Graves, Waitrose Chilled Vegetarian and Vegan Buyer, said in the statement:
“The growing appetite for meat-free dishes has been reflected throughout the year with rising sales of vegan and vegetarian products, as well as the introduction of exciting and delicious new products to the foodie market.
“In line with this growing demand, we’re excited to have developed an exclusive range of own label vegan and vegetarian products to delight customers.”
“The innovative dishes include complete meals for a quick and easy dinner, as well as staple side dishes, each proving that a vegan or veggie meal doesn’t have to compromise on flavour.”
Waitrose is not the only supermarket to be embracing meat-free options, with many others also expanding their vegan and veggie ranges.
Iceland recently expanded their popular ‘no-bull’ range, and Tesco has released new items within their Wicked Kitchen range.
